"Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. "And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. "Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. "The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell--and great was its fall." (Matthew 7:24-27 NASB) This page displays a painting currently located at Inspired-art.com. This painting, by Danny Hahlbolm, is titled The Wise and the Foolish Builder. The verse below it is the parable that inspired the painting. For BBEC, this verse represents the years that have been spent building houses on "sand" in Black American communities. These "buildings" are represented by hand outs, instead of hand ups, looking for a quick and easy way to earn money, instead of taking the slow and steady method. We at BBEC are committed to educating Black Americans on the value of learning how to build, slowly, taking the time to make sure each level is secure, before we move on to the next level of construction. We believe it is best that we begin on the inside and with our youth, knowing
that eventually the changes will be reflected on the outside and as stable,
self-sufficient adults. |
